EngageRM CTO Neil McKinnon shared a simple but useful reminder with the team about reading Microsoft Teams status indicators before interrupting a colleague.
Green means someone's genuinely free; orange means they're away and better reached with a chat message; red covers a range of states — presenting, in a call, in a meeting, marked busy, or on a custom status like "Focusing" — all of which are a cue to send a message rather than call. The etiquette is simple: if someone isn't shown as available, drop a chat first rather than interrupting outright.
