Six trends to look out for in live events in 2022

EngageRM Founder Brett Yorgey shares six predictions for how live events will evolve in 2022.
Six trends to watch
Emerging technologies — including early discussion of metaverse-based concerts and events — will be essential for operators to stay competitive. Virtual experiences will take on a bigger role in the event journey, letting fans share moments without being in the same venue. The shift from Web 2.0 to Web3 will need to get simpler, since blockchain and smart contracts remain too complex for most people to grasp today. New revenue streams will open up around NFTs and evolving forms of engagement, beyond the traditional ticket or seat. Organisations will need sharper ways to reach the huge share of their database who never attend in person. And sustainability will move from a nice-to-have to a genuine mission priority, following examples like Co-op Live's "For the Planet" initiative and Intuit Dome's climate-positive arena partnership with Aspiration.
