EngageRM CTO Neil McKinnon, who joined alongside CEO Ned Coten in 2020, discusses common client challenges and where sports technology is heading.

Many prospective clients don't yet know what they're missing by relying on spreadsheets and outdated systems, McKinnon says, while more sophisticated organisations quickly recognise the specific problems EngageRM solves. What sets the platform apart, in his view, is being genuinely "born in sport" rather than a generalist CRM adapted for the industry.

Looking ahead, McKinnon sees the biggest shift happening in grassroots fan engagement — helping clubs understand and activate the hundreds of thousands of loosely-attached fans on their database, not just their season ticket holders.
